Snapshots of Australia

Picture
During the early 1900’s many people living in poverty suffered from severe health conditions due to the lack of cleanliness in infections and diseases, such as the whooping cough and diphtheria and (a deadly disease). They suffered these diseases as that was killing the population. But there is now a vaccine to prevent the diseases and deaths.

The majority of people who died were usually the lower class society, as they could not afford proper medical attention. They would need medical attention as they would hang out in crowded areas and the spread of disease was a high risk, and many of them would become seriously ill as they could not afford the basic human’s needs such as food and water, but they could usually find a bit of shelter somewhere.

As seen up the top, is an image of a nurses wearing protective gear to prevent themselves from cacthing an illness. It tells us that the lives of Australian’s were very different than the lives of Australians today as the technology back in those days were not great as many mothers would have died giving birth, and many children would have died due to the lack of technology they had in the early 1900’s and for every 1000 live births the death rate was 103.6 deaths. So with barely any of the technology devises we have today they didn’t have the answers or cures for a lot of the medical conditions such as the use of penicillin for common infections.

As a result of these lacks of cures and answers, the death expectancy was rather high as the men’s life expectancy was 55.2 years and the females was 58.4 years.

The image shows how lucky we are to be living the way we do today, knowing that a small cold or an infection can be cured, and that their aren’t as many questions today than their was back then, also the fact that we know a lot more such as cancer, but that does not change the fact we still in the present day we have a lot more to learn still.
